WORKS ON CONSTRUCTION OF TUNNEL AND VIADUCT ON THE RAILWAY SECTION STARA PAZOVA - NOVI SAD, WITHIN THE PROJECT OF RECONSTRUCTION, MODERNIZATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE DOUBLE TRACK RAILWAY LINE BELGRADE - STARA PAZOVA - NOVI SAD - SUBOTICA – STATE BORDER

Project significance: 
Reconstruction and modernization of the Stara Pazova - Novi Sad railway section is strategically important considering that it is part of the core transversal network of the Republic of Serbia and as such is part of the route of the future high-speed railway line between Belgrade and Budapest.

 
Project status: 
Works are in progress.

ČORTANOVCI TUNNEL: The tunnel consists of 2 separate tunnel tubes, single-track each, with a total length of 2,242 m. The right tunnel tube is 1,086 m long, and breakthrough was achieved on 3 April, 2020. The left tunnel tube is 1,156 m long, and breakthrough was achieved on 5 June, 2020. Works on all three phases of the primary tunnel construction have been completed. Works on the secondary tunnel structure and the superstructure have also been completed.

 

VIADUCT: The viaduct is approx. 3 km long, supported by 59 pillars, of which the highest is 28 m. The viaduct is located next to the right bank of the Danube and consists of two structures. The beginning of the viaduct is connected to the tunnel exit platform. The remaining viaduct construction is divided into five segments. Construction works on all 59 supporting pillars have been completed. Construction works on all foundations, pillars and main girders of the viaduct structure have also been completed.
